Fresh Trouble for El-Rufai as DSS Moves to Arraign Him Feb 25
Fresh twist in the El-Rufai matter.
Former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai will be arraigned in court on Wednesday, February 25, according to the Department of State Services (DSS).
He is expected to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Reports say the DSS filed a three-count charge against him, including alleged cybercrime and national security breaches, linked to claims that he intercepted a phone conversation involving the National Security Adviser.
This comes after he earlier spent time with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and was later held by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over separate investigations.
Court proceedings start next week.
We’ll keep you posted as it unfolds.

New Electoral Act 2026: What It Means for the Next Election
Nigeria now has a new election law signed by President Tinubu, setting how the 2027 elections will run.
Here’s the gist in simple terms:
Electronic transmission of results:
Results from polling units can now be sent electronically to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal (IReV).
This is meant to boost transparency. But if there’s no network, the physical result slips (EC8A) will still be used and later uploaded once possible.
How parties choose candidates:
Political parties will use direct primaries or consensus to pick their candidates. The old “indirect” delegate system has been removed, which could give regular party members more voice.
Election day process:
On polling day, voters still vote with ballot papers and accreditation machines.
After counting at each polling unit, results are signed by officials and party agents, then sent online to INEC’s results portal — if network allows — or later uploaded once there’s signal.
That means results get out faster and are accessible to the public in more places than before.
Some groups argue the law doesn’t go far enough on mandatory real-time transmission, while others say it’s a step forward for transparency.
Whether you’re voting or just watching, this new law will shape how results are counted and shared in the next election.

No Lassa fever case at NYSC camp, says govt
The Kwara State Government has cleared the air over rumours of a Lassa fever death at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp.
According to the state’s Rapid Response Team, there is no confirmed case of Lassa fever at the camp.
The team carried out an immediate investigation and checked both corps members and camp officials. No sign of the disease was found.
Officials explained that the corps member mentioned in the viral post was actually battling a pre existing health condition and not Lassa fever.
Even though the risk is low, health authorities say they have increased monitoring at the camp, strengthened clinic checks, and educated corps members on prevention and early reporting of any symptoms.
They also advised residents to ignore unverified social media rumours and rely on updates from official sources.
Bottom line, no Lassa fever outbreak in Kwara State. Stay calm and stay informed.
