When I entered the bathroom this morning I received the shock of my life. I was all set to take my bath and get set for work, soap on one hand, sponge on the other, I was singing as is my usual tradition when I enter the bathroom.
But this time, my singing was cut short abruptly when I turned on the shower and there was no water running.

You can imagine the disappointment on my face, something must have made the water to stop running (that's a story for another day). I was left rushing from pillar to post to look for alternative solutions to my water problems.

This is exactly the situation for many people when they need money to solve an urgent and pressing issue only to find insufficient funds in their multiple accounts. This has happened to me so many times, some times I had to either beg or take loans or even sell something valuable just to raise the urgent funds.

But this doesn't have to be the case had I known this solution, I am about to share with you. A solution where value is given in exchange for money.

In 2017, as part of my role as a Skills Acquisition & Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) facilitator, I embarked on a journey to a village in Kwara State. My purpose was to enlighten and train the youth on lucrative skills they could pursue after completing their NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) program.

The hall was brimming with corps members who had gathered from every corner of the Local Government Area (LGA). As I took the stage to address them, I witnessed a sea of faces, some uncertain about their next steps after NYSC. After speaking for about 30 minutes, I stepped down from the podium, ready to leave. However, a group of corps members formed a circle around me, each with their own unique questions about starting a skill and achieving financial independence post-NYSC.

One young man captured my attention. He had already acquired some skills, and with his service year coming to an end, he had saved approximately 50,000 to 70,000 Naira. He was concerned about what he could do with such a modest sum, especially knowing it wouldn't last a week once he returned home. He approached me and shared his predicament.

I engaged him in consultations, and fast forward a few years later, he proudly informed me that he now has three different ventures generating income for him. Just last year, he sent me a photo of a car he had purchased and expressed his gratitude through a token of appreciation. I forgot to mention that he is now happily married with a child. I have attached a screenshot of our conversation to this post as proof.
