*LAGOS SAFETY COMMISSION PARLEYS WITH PRIVATE SCHOOL OWNERS*

The Director-General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Hakeem Dickson
today held a meeting with owners of private schools in Lagos state on
School Safety management systems including Auditing and training.

At the meeting which comprised of various associations, Mr. Dickson assured
the school owners that government is not out to penalize schools but to
work together in order to assure the overall safety of lives and property
in schools.

According to the Director-General, safety in schools is of paramount
importance to Lagos State as a responsible government and will not
compromise in ensuring the safety of children in schools.

He expressed his pledge on assumption as the Director-General of the Safety
Commission to carry out its mandate of ensuring safety in Lagos state
without leaving any sector, most especially schools where children spend a
significant amount their time.

Mr. Dickson said that it is beneficial for schools to have various safety
measures to ameliorate the infractions of our schools.

He advised the school owners to make provisions for safety in their budget
so that they can have the requisite safety measures in place.

In his words “what is the essence of being the best school in Nigeria if
safety is inadequate?”

The Director-General revealed that there would be a safety audit in all
schools in Lagos state to ascertain their safety
