That's what Christ Jesus did as explained in Ephesians 2:13: “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” Sin had stripped us of access. We were alive, but distant. Known, but excluded. No effort, good behaviour, or regret could restore that access. What we could not regain by merit, Christ secured by His blood.

It is easier to serve people into the sheepfold than to preach them into it. And that’s because, humans are moved by what they see, and not merely by what they hear. We want to see you live the life, then we’d be sure what you have is tangible enough to be obtained without being compelled.

It is to this end that our text reads: “For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth." 2 Corinthians 10:17-18.” When Christ, our Lord, places His mark and seal upon any man, he’d be in perpetual favour with God and men. This recommendation hence doesn’t come by merit. For the Scripture explicitly says “God has no delight in the flesh.” Hence, nothing of ourselves can be done to earn a place in the heart of God.
