Cedar Food Security Project: Post-Harvest Management and Value Addition.

The Cedar Food Security Project is a strategic initiative designed to address food losses, improve farmers’ income, and strengthen local food systems through effective post-harvest management and value addition.

Recognizing that a significant percentage of agricultural produce is lost after harvest due to poor handling, storage, and limited processing capacity, Cedar Multiventure focuses on transforming raw farm produce into stable, market-ready products.

A core component of the project is cassava value addition, particularly through the production of Cedar Cassava Grits (Garri) and Cedar Cassava Flour (Lafun).

Cassava, a major staple crop, is highly perishable when fresh. Through proper peeling, fermentation, drying, and hygienic processing, Cedar converts cassava roots into high-quality garri and lafun with extended shelf life and improved safety.

Cedar Garri is carefully processed to ensure good texture, taste, and nutritional quality, making it suitable for both household consumption and commercial markets.

Cedar Lafun (cassava flour) is produced under controlled drying and milling conditions, ensuring cleanliness, consistency, and suitability for local and institutional buyers.

Beyond processing, the project integrates farmer training, aggregation, storage, and packaging, enabling farmers to access reliable markets while reducing post-harvest losses.

The Cedar Food Security Project contributes to food security, job creation, and sustainable rural development, while positioning value-added cassava products as drivers of economic growth.
