2024 has been an amazing year indeed for MBS Initiative. We're thrilled to wrap it up with our end-of-the-year outreach to Ilaje-Bariga slum where over 50 kids were empowered with educational materials among other essential relief items to cushion the effect of hardship in the country. As part of our support for quality education, we also supported two kids with educational grants to aid their learning.

Slum kids and quality education

The essence of education is not just to read and write but to widen one's horizon about the complexities of life itself.
Education is not a privilege but a right of every child and must be seen as a weapon to liberate the world from darkness (lack of knowledge).
Just this week, the world marks International Day of Education with millions of children still roaming the streets with little or no focus on what the future holds for them.
Out-of-school menace has been a major concern for educationists and policy makers in recent times as we see cases skyrocketing due to lack of basic support for kids in low-income countries, especially Nigeria where we have 20 million out-of-school children.
For us at Mission for Better life in Slum (MBS) Initiative, we saw the need to bridge the gap created by lack of education materials with the launch of Back-to-School Campaign in Ibadan where at least 100 slum kids received branded notebooks to aid their learning.
The project primarily is to create awareness about the need for quality education among slum communities and also advocate for a policy that encourages access to books for this category of students.
On this note, we call on government, NGOs, Civil Societies, education enthusiasts amongst other policy makers to join us as we amplify the silent voices of these young folks beckoning for expression. Together for a better tomorrow for every child!
