"Flicker" is pronounced /'flikÓ™/; it can be used as a verb and/or a noun. As a verb, it means "to keep going on and off as it shines or burns".
Example:
The light and then went out.
As a noun, it means "a light that shines in an unsteady way."
Example:
The of the television set disturbed my sight.

Note that we can also talk about the of the eyelids. * "A of hope"- flicker is used to mean a feeling that lasts for a short time.
