This is how I knack Coccidiosis commot from my farm.

1. I make sure say my litter dey dey dry always. No water spillage. No rain entering from one corner. No leaking roofs. Regular change of litter when it's almost getting soaked.

2) I make sure say breeze dey enter from all the sides. Breeze na enemy of water. Any corner wey even small water dey, breeze go dry am sharp sharp.

3)I make sure say pen, drinker and feeders dey dey neat always. Even the water wey chicken dey drink dey dey neat everytime. No chance for dirty wey dey cause sickness.

4) I make sure I no overstock chickens inside one small place like sardines. All my chickens dey get plenty space and plenty breeze dey enter well well.

Causes of Coccidiosis in chickens

1) Wet litter is the biggest cause of coccidiosis in poultry farms.



This happens due to;

- Water spillage in the pen when providing water for chickens

- Leaking drinkers.

- Overcrowding of chickens which makes the litter get soaked up and wet easily.

- Too much humidity in the pen cause by rains.

- Poor ventilation causing the pen to retain wetness.

2) Poor hygiene and sanitation : The organism causing coccidiosis multiply very fast in dirty environments, for example in dirty drinkers, feeders or litter long overdue for cleaning.

3) Stress: Chickens that are going through stress such as heat, vaccination, feed change stress will have weaker immunity and might come down with coccidiosis

4) Weather changes: Too much rain and humidity causes moisture build-up in the pens which helps the coccidia organism to thrive and multiply faster.
