Our organization participated in the Citizens’ Engagement on Community Resilience and Adaptation to Security Threats organized by CLEEN Foundation on 12th–13th May, 2026 at Jaiz Hotel Services, Gusau, Zamfara State.

The organization was represented by Tajudeen Umar Lamido, who actively engaged in discussions alongside community representatives, civil society organizations, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders on strengthening community resilience, citizen-centered security approaches, and sustainable partnerships for safer communities in Zamfara State.

As an organization committed to peacebuilding, community development, and countering violent extremism, HUCOMDEF contributed valuable insights on community policing, resilience building, local safety networks, and collaborative approaches to addressing emerging security threats.

We commend CLEEN Foundation and the Open Society Foundations for creating this important platform that repositions communities as active actors in building sustainable peace and security.

Building Communities Resilience Against Violent Extremism (BCRAVE) Project 11/04/2026

Communities in Zamfara State, Nigeria face rising violent extremism driven by poverty, insecurity, and limited awareness. Youth are vulnerable to recruitment due to misinformation and lack of opportunities. Weak community structures and poor collaboration with security agencies reduce early detection and response.

Our BCRAVE project aimed to provide solution to the problems by empowering local actors with knowledge and skills to prevent radicalization. This short video, highlighted the project's workshop activity where youth, community actors, civil society organizations, security agencies and government officials were equipped with skills to counter extremist narratives, promote media literacy, and identify early extremist warning signs.

Our organization is open for partnership to sustain this initiative.
