GOMBE STATE UNIVERSITY PLACES MAIN CAMPUS UNDER 24-HOUR CCTV SURVEILLANCE

Gombe State University has installed a state-of-the-art, campus-wide Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system as part of its commitment to strengthening security and ensuring the safety of staff, students, visitors, and University property.
The solar-powered surveillance network provides comprehensive coverage of the entire Main Campus. The system monitors and records pedestrian, vehicular, and bicycle movements around the clock and is integrated with the University's Central Security Control Room, supported by an enhanced walkie-talkie communication network for rapid security response.
The Chief Security Officer of the University, Retired Lieutenant Commander Jafaru Kamara, commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, and the University Management for the landmark investment, noting that the technology will significantly strengthen the operational capacity of the University's Security Unit by improving surveillance, coordination, emergency response, and incident investigation.
Speaking on the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani A. Yauta, described the project as a major milestone in the University's efforts to provide a safe and secure learning environment. He stated that the CCTV system has already proved valuable in reviewing incidents and supporting security operations.
Professor Yauta urged security personnel to utilise the facility professionally and efficiently while assuring members of the University community of Management's firm commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The Vice-Chancellor also informed staff, students, visitors, and the general public that the entire Gombe State University Main Campus is now under 24-hour CCTV surveillance, stressing that movements within the campus are monitored to enhance security, deter criminal activities, and promote accountability.
This initiative reflects the University's continued investment in modern security infrastructure and its determination to maintain a safe, peaceful, and conducive environment for teaching, learning, research, and community service.
