🚨 BEWARE: Formalin in Your Fish & Meat – Silent Killer for Your Kidneys! 🚨
Did you know some sellers use formalin (a dangerous chemical used to preserve dead bodies) to make fish and meat look "fresh" for longer?
How it's used:
In ice fish and other fish: It hardens the scales, keeps the eyes bright and clear, and prevents decay so the fish looks fresh even when it's not.
In meat (like kpomo): It makes the pieces thicker, bigger, and tougher so sellers can make more profit from smaller cuts.
Why this is dangerous for your kidneys:
Formalin contains formaldehyde, a known nephrotoxin (kidney poison). When you eat it regularly, it causes inflammation in the kidneys, forces them to work overtime, and can lead to progressive kidney damage, abdominal pain, and long-term health risks.
How to detect formalin-treated fish/meat:
🚨 The flesh feels stiff and rubbery (not soft and tender).
🚨 Strong pungent or chemical smell (not natural fishy smell).
🚨 No flies around the fish/meat (flies avoid it).
Scales very hard, eyes too clear/shiny even after days.
🚨 Meat doesn't spoil normally.
Protect yourself:
🛡️ Always choose fresh fish/meat with natural smell and soft texture.
🛡️ Wash thoroughly with clean water multiple times.
🛡️ Soak in salt water or vinegar-water solution for 30–60 minutes before cooking (this helps reduce the chemical).
🛡️ Cook properly with heat.
Your kidneys filter everything you eat — don't poison them! Share this with family and friends to create awareness.
Protect your kidneys, protect your health. 💙
