It’ll hurt just a little bit.

Those were the lies she was told. Just a bit. I am sure she thought they meant a prickle, like a pierce from a needle, but that was a sharp blade with the reflection of its edges.

All she wanted to feel was the pride they said comes with it. The fear of being seen as wanting to be loose. The pride of saying me too, I’ve been there.

All she ever wanted was to tell her story, prideful as the older women told her to. But she didn’t. She couldn’t leave the moment of what had hit her.

Hopefully, I am here to tell it for her, for the girl who’s gone forever, and for the girl who deep down feels something broke in her.

Today, being International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation, I stand against it using my voice and platform. My heart goes out to all the women who have gone through it and lost something in them.

Let’s come together to put an end to this myth, that FGM is harmless and necessary for purity, honor, or womanhood. ❤️

Things We Never Speak About.

Children are children, what do they know? But they keep proving you wrong all the time.😄

Now imagine when the home is misplaced, yes, they’re still children but with emotions like you and I, they can think, they can feel and they also know the right questions to ask. Yes they’re children, but children grow into adulthood carrying unhealed wounds and trauma.

Please let’s build a safe space from the home for them, the first place trauma is learned is the home.

Today’s Reflection

Parents Observation: As parents watch your kids closely and learn which behavioral traits is copied the most. Tone of voice, conflict resolution,stress management . Are your kids mirroring back to you?

As Teens and adults, reflect inwardly and learn which behavioral traits you carried from your parents. The way you expressed or suppressed anger, what emotions were allowed growing up, how affectionate were your parents and how much of their presence did you feel?

The cycle can be generational, but awareness is where change starts. When you recognize “I respond this way because that’s what I learned,” you gain the choice to do something different.

The first place trauma is learned is the home but the home can also be the first place healing happens.
A happy home, A happy society.
