"Say No to Reckless Dumping of Refuse"
These are pictures taken around Big Qua Calabar on Monday September 22, 2025 during our regular routine inspection of the Bins.
Even when the bins are empty people still dump on the ground. And unfunny enough this group of persons are the first to criticize unconstructively.
Please help us to serve you better.
Always dump your refuse into the bins and not on the ground.
And remember the dumping hour still remains 6pm - 10pm
22/08/2025
The attention of the Calabar Urban Development Authority CUDA has been drawn to some bias and unconstructive criticism concerning the Refuse Dumping Policy where 6PM to 10PM is set for dumping of refuse.
As an Agency of Government we welcome constructive criticism and contributions that will help us deliver on our Statutory Mandates.
However, this criticism should be pure in its intentions and not to jeopardize the efforts so far exerted in making sure that Calabar is returned to her original status as the Cleanness, Green and Serene City in Nigeria and even beyond.
It is worthy of mentioning that the 'Refuse Dumping Policy' was not to witch-hunt or targeted at anyone not even the masses as claimed. Neither was it formulated for the purpose of extorting money from the masses as alleged by some persons.
The purpose of this policy is to segment the time of refuse dumping as well as the time for evacuation as it is practiced in other clime.
As was the traditional practice before now, the Evacuator will carry out their duty of evacuating the refuse diligently but at a twinkle of an eye some people will in the name of coming to dump refuse will end up messing up the place again, making the place look unkept. And this practice was really counter productive.
As a matter of emphasis, this policy is to enable us deliver on our Statutory Mandates of which the masses can see the results themselves.
As per the publicity of this policy, the implementation of this policy was put on hold twice just to satisfy the aspect of publicity.
But despite all these efforts, We become shocked to hear people allegedly talk about inadequate publicity of this policy. This is totally misleading and must be condemned in its entirety.
To set the record straight, this policy has gained the adequate publicity it deserves as radio jingles, social media, announcements were made in various churches concerning the Policy, posters, billboards are erected at strategic positions, all these were employed just to make sure the message gets to all.
And even stickers were printed and pasted on each bin across Calabar as seen in the attached photos.
We plead that this energies be channel into helping spread the information to the masses as this policy which has come to stay is intended for the good of our people.
Please disregard any campaign of columny crafted just to undermine our efforts in repositioning Calabar and restoring her lost Glory.
Thank you!
