With the Executive Secretary, Bauchi Agency For Persons With Disabilities Hon. Mrs. Brisca Joram Aaron during an advocacy visit to the Agency on Gender/ Disability based violence. Today Monday 16 August, 2021. We discussed intensively about the devastating effect of all types of Gender/Disability based violence in our society and how the government will interfere through working with different organizations of persons with disabilities and other civil society organizations (CSOs) to mitigate the frequent occurrence of G/DBV. Advocacy is the best tool in combating G/DBV by creating awareness on how to break the culture of silence by amplifying voices on any sign of violence against the targeting victims by the perpetrators. We emphasized that women and girls with disabilities were subjected to multiple form of violence and discrimination. We concluded that
Something urgent needs to be done by the government and other stakeholders to address this ugly trend.
She expressed appreciation to the Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) and Ford Foundation.
