5 Mistakes I made that damaged my fabrics.

So today we are looking at 5 common avoidable mistakes that cost us our fabrics when doing laundry.

1. Using too much detergent. Happens to be number one because it is quite common. It is not the amount of soap you use in washing clothes that makes them clean. Once soap makes water lather(foams) there is no need to add more detergent. Too much detergent weakens fabrics and causes them to fade quickly. In your, next laundry cycle use your laundry detergent just enough to make water lather.

2. Using hard water. There are two types of water hard and soft. Hard water makes it difficult for soap to lather. To combat hard water for laundry you could either boil before use or add industrial salt or bicarbonate of soda to water before wash.

3. Using starch for all fabrics. Starching fabrics could hold a lot of advantages if done correctly. But it's important to note that not all fabrics take starch. You should properly reconsider starching clothes like linen and silk then colors like blue and black.

4. Long exposure of clothes to sunlight. Drying clothes directly under sunlight requires considerable care. The principle involved in drying clothes on the lawn is that you should not expose clothes to too much Sunlight. The best way to dry clothes is to lawn them over a shade with plenty of fast-moving air.

5. Ironing clothes every time. Ironing clothes every time is the fastest way to fade and shrink fabrics. It is advisable to sometimes leave clothes unironed.

1. Not all detergent is made for all clothes types. We have different types of fabrics today (check the tag at the side of any clothes to find out). While soap manufacturers want you to believe that their soap is suitable for all your fabrics type it may not be entirely true. Some detergent. Should never be used for some fabric type.

2. Detergent depending on their make fades, shrink clothes faster than others. So check the label for ionic contents.

3. Not all detergent is appropriate for washing machines if you use one. You may damage fabrics faster using some type of detergent on a washing machine
