WALKING IN HUMILITY: LESSONS FROM BLESSED CYPRIAN IWENE TANSI

Pride, arrogance, and selfishness distance us from God. A heart filled with such vices cannot truly walk with Him. On our journey of faith, we are constantly invited to examine ourselves and uproot anything that draws us away from humility.

The life of Blessed Cyprian Iwene Tansi speaks loudly to us today. He embraced humility as a way of life, placing his total trust in God through prayer. Because he humbled himself before the Lord, God listened to him and glorified His name through his life.

Humility never diminishes us; rather, it opens the door for God’s grace. But pride and selfishness can rob us of peace, grace, and divine favor. Let us therefore choose humility, serve one another with love, and trust that God will raise us up in His perfect time.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, cleanse my heart of pride and selfishness. Teach me to walk humbly before You and to serve others with sincerity and love.

May my life reflect Your glory, and may my prayers rise before You with favor. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

May the blessing of Almighty God remain with us always:
✠ The Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Blessed Cyprian Iwene Tansi, pray for us! 🙏

Today, 22 February, time invites us to remember and hearts are drawn back to a wound that still aches.

Ten years ago, in 2016, tragedy struck when six Nigerian Catholic seminarians of the Vincentian Congregation lost their lives in a fatal road accident in Enugu State, Nigeria.

A burst rear tyre sent their bus somersaulting, and in a moment, dreams dedicated to God and humanity were painfully cut short. It was a day that plunged the Vincentian family and the entire Church in Nigeria into deep mourning.

Yet, even in grief, we raise our eyes in gratitude to God for the survivors whose lives were spared. As we mark this solemn anniversary, we commend our fallen brothers to the boundless mercy of God and pray earnestly for the peaceful repose of their souls, and for comfort, strength, and healing for their families, loved ones, and the Vincentian Congregation of the Nigerian Province.

Their names are written in our hearts:
1. Emeka Osisiuri
2. Joachim Ehirimeyoma
3. Emmanuel Agbo
4. Emmanuel Adah
5. Michael Nwafor
6. Emmanuel Okoli

They walked the path of service, they answered the call, and they now rest in God.

May their souls rest in perfect peace. 🕊️

Let us join our Bishops in prayerful reflection on

“THE COMMON GOOD AND LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA.”

May the Lord continually pour out His wisdom upon our Fathers in the faith as they speak with clarity, justice, and compassion for our nation.
