Cerebral palsy occurs when the developing brain is injured or doesn’t form properly — often before birth. It affects movement and coordination, but early therapy and understanding can make a world of difference. Today we recognise and celebrate CP Warriors around us!
What is a Stroke?
A stroke happens when blood flow to a part of the brain is blocked (ischemic stroke) or when a blood vessel bursts (hemorrhagic stroke). Without enough oxygen, brain cells die, which can affect movement, speech, memory, and other functions.
When stroke affects the brain areas that control movement (often one side of the body), it can cause:
1. Weakness (paresis) or paralysis on one side (called hemiparesis or hemiplegia).
2. Spasticity (muscle stiffness or tightness).
3. Poor coordination and balance, making walking difficult.
4. Foot drop (difficulty lifting the front of the foot).
This is why many stroke survivors struggle with walking, standing, or climbing stairs.
Why Leg Exercises Matter*
1. They retrain the brain and muscles (neuroplasticity).
2. Improve strength, flexibility, and balance.
3. Reduce complications like stiffness, blood clots, and falls.
4. Boost confidence and independence in daily life.
We strongly advise you, to seek professional medical help and not solely rely on the video we post.
