DNA FEDERAL REPRESENTATION SINCE 1999: WHERE IS THE FAIRNESS?
Political commentator and stakeholder, Harrison A. Nwegwu, has raised serious concerns over what he describes as a long-standing imbalance in the representation of the Dunukofia / Njikoka / Anaocha (DNA) Federal Constituency.
According to him, for over two decades, the constituency has operated under a democratic structure that should ordinarily reflect balance, fairness, and brotherhood among the three local government areas. However, available records present a troubling reality.
DNA FEDERAL REPRESENTATION SINCE 1999
• Dunukofia – 0 term
• Njikoka – 4 terms (16 years)
• Anaocha – 3 terms (12 years)
Nwegwu noted that for 28 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, Dunukofia Local Government Area has never produced the federal representative of the constituency — not even for a single term. Within the same period, Njikoka has held the position for 16 years, while Anaocha has enjoyed 12 years of representation.
He therefore posed several questions to stakeholders and citizens across the constituency:
Where is the brotherhood often preached among the three local governments?
Where is the fairness in this arrangement?
Where exactly has justice gone to?
According to him, democracy should never evolve into a system where some communities dominate leadership positions while others remain permanent spectators.
He emphasized that Dunukofia is not a second-class partner in the DNA Federal Constituency, stressing that the people of the area consistently participate in elections, mobilize voters, and contribute to the success of candidates across the constituency.
Despite these contributions, he lamented that Dunukofia has remained completely excluded from representation since 1999, describing the situation as unhealthy for unity and contrary to the spirit of equity and brotherhood.
Nwegwu maintained that the demand of the people of Dunukofia is not domination but simple justice, arguing that a constituency built on three equal partners cannot continue to operate like a two-man arrangement for nearly three decades.
He concluded by stating that the time has come for conscience to speak and for fairness to prevail, urging stakeholders across Anaocha, Njikoka, and Dunukofia to support the long-overdue inclusion of Dunukofia in the leadership of the constituency.
“History will remember those who stood for equity, and those who chose to ignore it,” he added.

DNA REPRESENTATION: WHY THE CALL FOR A CHANCE FOR DUNUKOFIA CONTINUES
One of the concerned constituents of Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha (DNA) Federal Constituency, Harrison A. Nwegwu, has reiterated the need for fairness and balance in the representation of the Federal Constituency, emphasizing that the call for Dunukofia to produce the next representative is rooted in equity and democratic inclusion.
According to him, the DNA Federal Constituency was founded on the principles of unity, fairness, and collective representation among the three sister local government areas. As such, leadership opportunities within the constituency were expected to reflect balance and inclusiveness among Dunukofia, Njikoka, and Anaocha.
However, since the return of democratic governance in 1999, the constituency has only produced representatives from Anaocha and Njikoka, leaving Dunukofia without the opportunity to occupy the federal seat.
While acknowledging the contributions made by past and present representatives from Anaocha and Njikoka toward the development of the constituency, Nwegwu stressed that the principle of equity must remain central in determining future representation. He noted that for democracy to flourish, every component of the constituency must feel a genuine sense of belonging and participation in leadership.
According to him, the call for Dunukofia to produce the next representative should not be misconstrued as a demand driven by entitlement, but rather understood as a sincere appeal for fairness and balance within the constituency’s political arrangement.
Nwegwu further observed that the people of Dunukofia have consistently supported candidates from other parts of the constituency for over two decades, demonstrating commitment to unity and brotherhood within the DNA political structure. In his view, it is only fair that such cooperation be reciprocated by giving Dunukofia the opportunity to serve.
He also emphasized that Dunukofia is endowed with capable sons and daughters who possess the competence, experience, and vision required to effectively represent the interests of the entire constituency. Granting Dunukofia the opportunity to produce the next representative, he noted, will not only strengthen unity among the three local government areas but also encourage broader participation in governance across the constituency.
Nwegwu concluded that allowing Dunukofia to take its turn in leadership would reinforce the ideals of justice, equity, and mutual respect among the people of Dunukofia, Njikoka, and Anaocha, noting that when leadership opportunities are shared fairly, the bonds of brotherhood become stronger and the constituency advances together in unity and progress.

REPORT: HARRISON A. NWEGWU CALLS FOR EQUITY, URGES SUPPORT FOR DUNUKOFIA IN 2027 HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES RACE
A concerned citizen and stakeholder of the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Harrison A. Nwegwu (Eziomumedimma Nawgu), has called on political stakeholders and the electorate across the constituency to support the emergence of a candidate from Dunukofia Local Government Area in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
In a statement titled “Shun Marginalization: It’s Time Dunukofia Is Allowed to Produce the Next House of Representatives Member in 2027,” Nwegwu appealed for justice, fairness, and equity among the three local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
According to him, since the return of democratic governance in 1999, the constituency has been represented by individuals from only Anaocha and Njikoka Local Government Areas, leaving Dunukofia without representation at the Green Chamber for more than two decades.
He provided an analysis of those who have represented the constituency over the years, their local government areas, and their periods in office:
Hon. Chukwuemeka Chikelu (Nnanyelugo) – Anaocha LGA (1999 – 2003)
Hon. George Ibezimako Ozodinobi (Ajajanze) – Njikoka LGA (2003 – 2007)
Hon. Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) – Anaocha LGA (2007 – 2011)
Hon. Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) – Anaocha LGA (2011 – 2015)
Hon. Dozie Nwankwo (Onye Ndozi) – Njikoka LGA (2015 – 2019)
Hon. Dozie Nwankwo (Onye Ndozi) – Njikoka LGA (2019 – 2023)
Hon. George Ibezimako Ozodinobi (Ajajanze) – Njikoka LGA (2023 – Date)
Nwegwu noted that despite being one of the three local government areas in the constituency, Dunukofia has never produced a member of the House of Representatives since 1999.
He observed that over the years, the people of Dunukofia have remained loyal supporters of candidates from other parts of the constituency, mobilizing votes and contributing to the political success of the area while patiently waiting for their own opportunity to represent the constituency.
The concerned stakeholder emphasized that the call for Dunukofia to produce the next representative in 2027 is not driven by entitlement but by a genuine desire to promote equity, inclusion, and balanced political participation among the three local government areas.
According to him, allowing Dunukofia to take its turn in 2027 would correct a long-standing imbalance and strengthen unity, trust, and cooperation across the constituency. He further stated that the people of Dunukofia are prepared to present credible and capable leaders who will represent the collective interests of Anaocha, Njikoka, and Dunukofia effectively at the National Assembly.
Nwegwu therefore urged political parties, community leaders, and stakeholders across the constituency to embrace fairness and support the cause of equity ahead of the 2027 general elections. He expressed optimism that when the moment for justice arrives, the people of the constituency will choose unity over exclusion and fairness over imbalance by giving Dunukofia the opportunity to produce the next member of the House of Representatives.
Nwegwu, who hails from Nawgu in Dunukofia Local Government Area, made the call as part of his continued advocacy for balanced political representation within the Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency.
