Remembering Isuofia – A Day of Courage, Sacrifice, and Divine Preservation
March 31st remains a solemn and unforgettable date in the history of Isuofia. On this day in 2021, the peaceful atmosphere at the Isuofia Civic Centre was shattered by a horrific invasion during a town hall meeting between Isuofia youths and Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR who had come to engage the people on his intention to contest the Anambra Governorship election.
The tragic incident led to the painful loss of about three gallant policemen who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. Their sacrifice continues to remind us of the cost of peace and security.
Amid the chaos, bravery shone through. Officers Kelechi Ugochukwu and Lawrence Etim stood their ground in a courageous counter-offensive that eventually repelled the advancing invaders. Their heroism remains a symbol of resilience and dedication to duty.
Five years later, in remembrance and gratitude to God for preservation and guidance throughout the Oluatuegwu journey, Hon. Chike Anyaonu (Ojichiemeonu), former Managing Director of ASHDC, alongside colleagues and friends, held a solemn prayer and thanksgiving session continuing a tradition observed over the years.
The holy mass was held today at St. Joseph the Worker Chaplaincy, Unizik main campus, a moment not just of remembrance, but of reflection on how divine grace has remained the architect and master weaver of this journey.
As we remember the fallen heroes and celebrate the courage of the living, we pray for continued peace, unity, and progress in Isuofia and Anambra State at large.
