*HON. BARR. NNAEMEKA CHISOM UGHA (MARSHAL) PROVIDES PROTECTING GUIDES TO YOUR DIGITAL LIFE.*

In today’s world, our phones and computers are more than just gadgets, they are our banks, our offices, and our connection to loved ones. However, as we move more of our lives online, criminals are also moving there. Cyber-attacks are no longer just "tech problems" they are real-world threats that can lead to stolen money, leaked private information, and identity theft.
Being "cyber-smart" isn’t about being a computer genius, it’s about being cautious. Just as you wouldn't leave your front door wide open at night, you shouldn't leave your digital life unprotected. By following a few simple habits, we can make our community a much harder target for scammers.

*Simple Tips to Stay Safe Online*

To help you stay protected, here is a straightforward guide to defending yourself against common digital threats:

1. Don’t Click on Suspicious Links: If a message arrives out of the blue via SMS or WhatsApp promising a prize or a government grant, be wary.

2. Read Between the Lines of a URL: Before clicking, look closely at the website address. Scammers often use names like g00gle.com instead of google.com to trick you.

3. Don’t Open Email Attachments: If you aren't 100% sure who sent an email, do not open any files attached to it. They can hide "malware" that spies on your device.

4. Avoid Public or Unsecured Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi at airports or cafes is convenient, but hackers can monitor the data and transactions you send over these networks. Use your mobile data for banking or private chats.

5. Always Verify by Phone: If you receive an "urgent" message from a friend or relative asking for money because of an emergency, call them directly to confirm it’s actually them.

6. Avoid Simple Passwords: Never use 123456, "password," or your Date of Birth. These are the first things a hacker will guess.

7. Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Enable the setting that sends a code to your phone when you log in. It’s like having a second lock on your door.

8. Keep Your Passwords Private: Never share your password with anyone, and avoid writing them down on papers where others can see
