Jamb: Physics Formulas you must know (physics students)

Few days left to Jamb examination. It is now the time for revision. By now each student should have done with the subjects syllabus.

Students who have not finished the syllabus should try as much as possible to complete it before the examination day.

Now we are bringing to you some Physics Formulas that you cannot escape them. That is Jamb always question under them.

1. Speed= distance/time = d/t unit= ms

Note: they may give you speed and distance and ask you to calculate the time. So don't always expect direct question.

2. Velocity = displacement/time = S/t Unit=ms.

Velocity and Speed have the same unit, speed is a Scalar ( no direction) while Velocity is a vector quantity ( it has direction).

3. Acceleration: Velocity/time= v/t unit ms².

4. Force: mass x acceleration unit N

5. Weight= mg , m= mass , g= acceleration due to gravity.

6. Momentum= mv , mass x velocity

7. Kinetic energy: ½mv²

8. Potential energy: mgh , h= hight

9. Density: m/v , v is volume not velocity

10. Uptrust: weight of the object in air _ weight of the object in fluid. Or U= weight of fluid displayed.

11. Pressure: F/A , Force, Area.

12. Surface Tension= F/L. Force, Length

13. Moment of inertial= mr². r is radius

14. Stress = F/A

15. Strain= change in length/original length

16. Young Modulus: Stress/strain

17. Refractive index = C/v c= 3x10^8

18. Mirror formula= 1/f= 1/u+ 1/v

19. Magnification: V/U

20. Resistivity: E/J

21. Charge: It

22. Electrical power= I²R

23. Electrical energy: vIt

24. P.d(V) = IR

25. Capacitance: Q/V , Q= charge, V= voltage
