MORE RELIEF FOR DESTITUTES IN DELTA STATE……..SAYS ALATAN
Following the widely applauded evacuation of mentally unstable people from the streets of some designated Local Govt Areas, more relief materials have been presented to operators of rehabilitation centres across the state.
While addressing newsmen, the coordinating Commissioner of the Ministry, Hon(Mrs) Flora Alatan said as partners, there is need for Government to provide all the necessary support to enhance service delivery to destitutes. Also, inspection of the various centres revealed that relief materials were required especially with the recent evacuation that was carried out across the state. Therefore, the State Government deemed it necessary to present these items to improve the rehabilitation process. According to her, they are no less humans, hence these categories of items including foodstuffs for their welfare. She emphasized that, for the healing process to be fast, the rehabilitation environment needs to be conducive for both patients and the health workers.
Recall that, few weeks ago staffs of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development led by Hon(Mrs) Flora Alatan engaged in a coordinated evacuation of destitutes from the streets of the Delta State. A move that was widely commended by Deltans because of the threat their presence poses to society. While pundits were wondering their destination, the presentation of these relief materials answers the questions as to how they would be rehabilitated. Some of the items include: mattresses, clothes, clippers, detergents, disinfectants,etc were among the relief package released to the care givers.
Finally, Hon Alatan assured the operators of more support from the administration of HE Sen(Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa because in his STRONGER DELTA VISION, no one is left behind. Those present during the official handing over include: the Permanent Secretary Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas, Mr Peter Okocha, Director Rehabilitation and other top management staff of the agency.

The Ministry of Women Affairs Community and Social Development under leadership of Hon(Mrs) Flora Alatan has credited over 280 Women Empowerment Skill Acquisition Programme (WESAP) beneficiaries with the sum of N100'000 each for shop rent in addition to the start up packs (Equipments) given them.
Therefore, these women has all it takes to succeed and be independent for life.
