Ekiti State AGILE in collaboration with NISD commemorates Menstrual Hygiene Day
Today, Ekiti State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, (AGILE) and New Initiative For Social Development made another history as they jointly sensitized not less than 300 secondary school Girls in commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day in Ekiti State.
At the programme, the Secondary school Girls were taught the importance of Menstrual Hygiene with special highlight of how Menstruation is a critical issue that causes girls to be absent from school, hence the safe space is very particular about encouraging girls to be Proud and Confident about their periods and to learn how to maintain proper hygiene always and especially during their menstruation.
The key objective of AGILE is to ensure completion of secondary education for girls by improving enrollment and retention of girls in schools which is being achieved under different components; safe space inclusive.
Safe Space for girls serves as an enabling environment for the girls to learn life skills, discuss personal and social issues, build self confidence, and access mentorship and psychosocial support.
Across 198 schools, girls in safe space have learnt Life Skills, Gender Based Violence, Climate Change, and Adolescent Health.
All the sessions facilitated by various stakeholders on Menstrual Hygiene Management attracted great responses from the girls present as they discussed freely as it affects them personally.

Every child deserves a voice, safety and standard care at all cost. Their protection should be a top priority to all stakeholders because their lives are sacred like every other human person.
As the world commemorates International Children's Day 2026 today, together, let us build a safe space for the children across the globe for a better world.
