All Kwara South Traditional Rulers United on 2027 Senate Seat Agitation – Olupo of Ajase-Ipo
The Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Bolaji Muhammed Yahaya Atoloye Alebiosu, has affirmed that the call for the zoning of the Kwara South Senatorial seat to the Igbomina axis enjoys the backing and support of traditional rulers across the senatorial district.
Speaking in a telephone conversation with this medium, the monarch said the agitation for equity and fair political representation is not an isolated position of the Igbomina Traditional Council but one that has received widespread endorsement from royal fathers across Kwara South.
According to him, several traditional rulers from different parts of the senatorial district have personally reached out to express solidarity with the demand, describing it as a just and reasonable call aimed at preserving fairness, inclusiveness, and political stability within the district.
The Olupo stressed that support for the Igbomina aspiration transcends ethnic, clan, and political considerations, noting that the quest is rooted in the principle of equitable power rotation rather than sectional interests.
He challenged those attempting to portray the agitation as a divisive or ethnic campaign to seek public declarations from their own traditional rulers if they believe such contrary positions enjoy similar royal backing.
The monarch commended members of the Igbomina Traditional Council and other stakeholders for pursuing the cause through peaceful advocacy and constructive engagement, emphasizing that the growing support from across Kwara South demonstrates a shared commitment to justice and balanced political representation.
He maintained that the overwhelming consensus among traditional rulers reflects a collective desire to strengthen unity in Kwara South by ensuring that every constituent bloc is given a fair opportunity to occupy elective positions within the established framework of equity and rotation.
