Dear Peace Lovers,
Effective peacebuilding does not start with action. It starts with engagement.
Our recent presence in Katampe I under the Community Cleaning for Peace Programme (CCPP) reinforced an important lesson for peacebuilders and development practitioners. Community stakeholders are central to programme success. When leaders, youths, women, and residents are meaningfully engaged, interventions become locally owned, relevant, and sustainable.
Stakeholder engagement builds trust, strengthens accountability, and allows communities to define their own priorities. It also helps peacebuilders move beyond assumptions and design responses that reflect lived realities.
At Peace Education and Practice Network (PEPNET), we see community engagement not as a formality, but as a core peacebuilding tool. Listening, inclusion, and collaboration remain essential to delivering impact and sustaining peace at the grassroots.
For peacebuilders reading this, community engagement is not an option. It is the foundation.
