The increasing rate of su***de among both young and old in Nigeria is alarming, cutting across ethnicity, religion, and social strata. It's crucial for parents to teach children how to handle both success and failure from an early age.

Success or failure is a perspective of life. Teach your children that success or failure is part of life, and embracing both with resilience and humility paves the way for growth and true accomplishment. Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

The Quran provides guidance on this matter:
"No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allāh, is easy. In order that you not despair over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allāh does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful." (Q57:22-23)

Allah also questions our understanding of His mercy:
"Do they (mankind) distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We (Allah) who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate." (Q43:32)

Allah regulates our provisions for the sanity of the world:
"And if Allah had extended [excessively] provision for His servants, they would have committed tyranny throughout the earth. But He sends [it] down in an amount which He wills. Indeed, He is, of His servants, Acquainted and Seeing." (Ash-Shura:27)
