When it comes to box presence, Victor Osimhen is right up there with the very best in the world. He's a bug in the pants of defenders. He doesn't sneak around. He goes for it. Aerially he is a sensation. That header today is a routine for him.

His commitment as well is over the roof. In the dying seconds he kept pressing and wanting more despite the 2-0 scoreline in favour of his country.

Great player!

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially opened the bidding process for the 2028, 2032, and 2036 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments.

On 2 January 2026, the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) confirmed the submission of an official bid to host the 2028 AFCON.

Four days ago, Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa announced a joint bid for the 2028 tournament, adding further momentum to an increasingly competitive race.

Other countries to have declared interest or are being strongly considered include Angola, Guinea with Mali, Rwanda, and Senegal, potentially in partnership with Mauritania.

Before CAF’s decision to revert AFCON to a four-year cycle, several nations had either confirmed or expressed interest in hosting tournaments between 2029 and 2035. Egypt had shown interest in the 2028 edition, while Morocco remains a leading candidate, widely regarded as one of the strongest contenders.

Meanwhile, a number of nations were not listed among the initial bidders prior to the switch but may still enter the race under the new cycle. These include a possible joint bid by the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and then Zambia.
