Accountability Lab Nigeria

In Benue State Government , many communities are living with more than conflict and displacement. They are living with the uncertainty of not knowing where to turn when rights are violated, when violence occurs, or when decisions affecting their lives are made without them. Too often, people remain silent not because they have nothing to say, but because they are unsure anyone will listen or act.

That is why we brought together institutions, civil society, and traditional leaders to answer a simple but important question: when citizens speak up, what happens next? Building trust in democracy begins with ensuring that communities can report concerns safely, access support, and see that their voices lead to action.

As a result, important steps have been taken to ensure that people who speak up are more likely to be heard and supported. Community advocates have been equipped to safely document concerns, facilitate referrals, and help community members access the institutions and services they need, while the NHRC Nigeria committed to strengthening coordination and access to justice.
