Mothers-to-be are always on the lookout for ways to make childbirth more bearable and easy for them and that is why in this article we’ll be considering ways to have an easier labor.
Exercise
Keeping fit would go a long way in helping you build endurance for labor and also help you have a shorter labor. It’s not necessary you hit the gym, a simple walk or swim would do.
Take childbirth classes
This would give you a heads-up on what’s to come up later during childbirth. Attending childbirth class with your spouse would help alleviate your fears and anxieties in regards to labor.
Distract yourself
The minute you start experiencing pain or cramps in your lower back or abdominal region you don’t need to start spacing the contractions just yet. Indulge in a relaxing activity to get your mind off the pain, take a shower, bake, take light snacks, ask your spouse to massage your back, soak in the tub, etc.
Stay on your feet
During labor you shouldn’t lie down just yet, staying in an upright position keeps the baby’s head coming in a downward motion. In fact, any movement at all, be it standing, kneeling or squatting helps widen your pelvis in preparation for the passage of the baby.
Don’t forget to breathe
The pain will come sure enough but it would definitely end the minute your baby comes into the world, so maintain steady breathing and think beautiful thought!
