APC STAKEHOLDERS ADOPT UKPONG-UDO AS CONSENSUS CANDIDATE FOR IKONO-INI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

Ahead of the upcoming primary elections, the Ini Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially adopted Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo (PhD) as its consensus candidate for the Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency.

The decision was reached during an enlarged stakeholders meeting held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Odoro Ikpe. The gathering, which drew a massive crowd of party leaders, elders, women, and youth representatives from all eleven wards of the Local Government Area, culminated in a signed communique affirming the constituency's direction.

In the communique, the stakeholders praised Ukpong-udo’s "superlative performance" at the National Assembly, citing his robust contributions on the floor, the initiation of vital physical projects, and his impactful human capital development programmes. The forum noted that it is in the best interest of the area for him to return to the legislative chamber to continue his development agenda.

The document, signed by the Chairman of the forum, Rt. Hon. Prof. Ini Udoka, the Secretary, Barr. Essien Essien and over 100 signatories present, declared the resolutions binding on the entire membership of the party within the Local Government Area.

With this position, the Ini APC stakeholders have sent a clear signal of stability and satisfaction with the current legislative leadership as the party prepares for the primary polls.

INI STAKEHOLDERS ENDORSE REP. UKPONG-UDO FOR ANOTHER TERM AFTER ENLARGED CONSULTATION MEETING

The Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, PhD., has received the endorsement of key stakeholders in Ini Local Government Area following an enlarged consultative meeting held at the Uyo residence of renowned political leader and former federal lawmaker, Prof. Ini Udoka.

The meeting, which brought together 103 stakeholders from across Ini LGA, formed part of ongoing consultations by Rep. Ukpong-udo ahead of his intention to seek re-election for another tenure in the House of Representatives from 2027 to 2031.

The enlarged consultation came a day after the lawmaker led a delegation of stakeholders from Ikono and Ini Federal Constituency on a similar engagement with senior political leaders in the area.

Speaking during the meeting, Rep. Ukpong-udo appreciated the stakeholders for their support, guidance, and continued confidence in his leadership. He noted that his decision to seek another mandate was driven by the need to consolidate ongoing people-oriented programmes and sustain development across the constituency.

He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive representation, grassroots empowerment, youth development, infrastructure support, educational interventions, and accessible leadership.

In their separate remarks, stakeholders commended the lawmaker for maintaining close ties with the people and for what they described as impactful and responsive representation. They praised his empowerment initiatives, scholarship programmes, healthcare interventions, and constituency engagements, describing them as visible evidence of effective leadership.

At the climax of the meeting, the stakeholders unanimously endorsed Rep. Ukpong-udo for another term in office, pledging their support for his 2027–2031 bid.
The gathering ended on a note of unity and optimism, with participants expressing confidence in the continued progress of Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency under his representation.

REP UKPONG-UDO BEGINS STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATIONS AHEAD OF 2027 RE-ELECTION BID

The Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo, PhD, has commenced high-level consultations with key political stakeholders as part of preparations for his intention to seek re-election for the 2027–2031 legislative term.

As part of the ongoing engagements, the lawmaker today visited respected leaders and indigenes of Ini Local Government Area, including Prof. Ini Udoka, a two-term former member of the House of Representatives, and Paul Owoh, a former Local Government Chairman and two-term member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. Rep Ukpong-udo met with both leaders at their respective residences.

The consultations, which focused on seeking counsel, support, and strengthening unity across the constituency, form part of Rep. Ukpong-Udo’s broader strategy to sustain inclusive and people-driven representation.

He was accompanied by a delegation of twelve stakeholders drawn from Ikono and Ini LGAs, including Barr. Goddy Umoh, Engr. Edet Umotong, Rt. Hon. Israel Idaisin, Barr. Edet Inyangidim, Chief Moses Akpan, and Hon. Victor Akang, among others.

Speaking during the visits, Rep. Ukpong-udo emphasised the importance of consultation, noting that leadership must be rooted in respect for elders, collective wisdom, and grassroots consensus. He reiterated his commitment to consolidating on ongoing development efforts and expanding opportunities for constituents.

In their responses, the stakeholders commended and endorsed the lawmaker for his inclusive approach and consistent engagement with leaders and the grassroots, assuring him of their continued support and guidance.
