I met with the European Union Elections Follow-up Mission to Nigeria, led by Ralph Michael Peters, Team Leader/Political Analyst, along with Eirini Gounari, Legal Expert, and Maros Gabriel, Election Expert. The Chief of Mission, Member of the EU Parliament, Mr. Barry Andrews, was expected to join the team in early October.

During our meeting in Abuja, we discussed the progress of the proposed Electoral Amendment Bill 2025 and its expected passage for the next general elections. The team aimed to understand the processes underway to prepare for the next general elections, particularly in relation to ongoing electoral reforms.

I informed them that the Senate and House Committees have been working on the proposed amendment bill, which is still a working document open to stakeholder input. The Joint National Assembly Committee on Electoral Matters has held several meetings to discuss key issues, and each chamber is pushing ahead with the process.

assured them that as soon as the Senate reconvenes from its recess, we will discuss the Conference report on the electoral amendment. We plan to generate more input through a proposed retreat and public hearing, which the Joint Committee will analyze for consideration and possible passage.

I thanked the EU for their interest and support in improving Nigeria's electoral system. I also assured them that the Committee has been working closely with civil society organizations, INEC, and other stakeholders in the review process

I was thrilled to attend the graduation ceremony of St. Augustine's College Du, Jos South Local Government, where I had the privilege of awarding a 5-year full scholarship to an outstanding student from my constituency.

Daboer Jesse Denaane, a brilliant student from Qua'an-Pan LGA, emerged as the overall best graduand with distinction. His exceptional performance in WAEC and JAMB, scoring 351 and getting distinctions in all his subjects, is truly impressive. I'm delighted to support his academic pursuits and announced a scholarship with an annual grant of 2 million naira, along with other incentives.

As his senator, I'm committed to ensuring Daboer secures admission to study his preferred course, Medicine. I commend the school management, teachers, and parents for their dedication to nurturing young minds. The future of our nation depends on the quality of education we provide, and I'm proud to support initiatives that promote academic excellence.

Daboer's achievement is not limited to his academic performance; he's also representing Nigeria at an international competition in the UK. I'm confident that with the right support, he'll excel in his future endeavors. I wish all the graduands well and encourage them to strive for greatness.

I also had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremony of my late younger brother's daughter, Dr. Wummen Tsenba Bako, at Rhemaville Christian Academy Jos. It's always a joy to celebrate the achievements of family and constituents.

I paid condolence visits to two of my fellow senators who have suffered losses in their families.

I visited Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau Central, to console him on the passing of his wife, Prof. Janet. She was an exceptional individual - a pillar of support to her family and an accomplished academic who served with dedication and compassion. I urged Senator Plang and his family to find solace in the memories of her life and legacy, and to accept her passing as God's will.

I also visited former Senator ID Gyang, representing Plateau North, to commiserate with him on the loss of his mother. Although her passing at 95 is a sad occasion, it's also a celebration of a life well-lived. She raised her children with strength and resilience, especially after losing her husband in 1976. I prayed for her soul's eternal rest and comfort for the family.
