The fear of the Igbo by other Nigerians is what has unsettled the union since 1966. The fear emanated from what they think, see or understand as attributes of the Igbo person. Rightly or wrongly, they understand Igbos are republican in nature, strong and resilient, they said the Igbo loves to dominate (no proofs), the Igbo loves money (no proof of their hate for money), the Igbo loves power (Azikiwe never fought for power even when he was in a position to grab it), he hate subjugation, his wisdom and foresightedness unsettled the comforts of others. I woke up this morning while reflecting on the character of Nyesom Wike of Benin, in whom all those character attributes dwell, while not Igbo. It is obvious that what the Binis (Wike and his people) detest in the Igbo is actually the characteristics of Wike from Bini.

How Godly is the fight for God who sees you kpai in prayers against draught. God does not instigate fight against or for himself.

When Delta state was created, not many expected the capital to be Asaba but for Mariam Babangida, Asaba got it against the perceived popular expectation for a place like Warri. Babangida didn't have to bother his head with those popular feelings. In the same vein, when Kogi state was created, the badly undeveloped, empty, rocky and hilly lokoja was not popularly expected to be the capital but lokoja got it against the expectation for Idah or the difficult alternative then for Okene. Such popular expectations apart from being of sectional interest were based on areas with manageable existing structures for the take off of government. When Bakassi was ceded to Cameroon, there were cries but who listened, then Cameroon took over. I laid the backgrounds against the proposals for creation of new states and the clamour for Anioma state out of Edo and Delta states. There are strong words coming from persons from Edo state to the effect that no 'Edo land' will be ceded to any possible creation of Anioma state. The harsh tones, to no one in particular but obviously was responding to the clamour by Igbanke communities in Edo state to join their brothers and sisters in Anioma state to be created. The Edo folks were wailing as though the government will consult them for boundary adjustments when the states (if created) are eventually to be separated. Government as usual will always act accordingly to their interest which was how Igbanke was separated from their Ika brothers and they saw themselves in Edo state. Did the Edo people or the Oba request to have Igbanke in Edo state? So it is not within any person besides the government to dictate what happens to state boundaries. granted that if you have the influence you can throw it around to your advantage but definitely not a social media demand. Igbanke was not cut to Edo because of any peculiar reasons either associated with language, cultural or traditional.
