Oshiomhole, a Nigerian politician, has proposed revoking the licenses of South African companies like MTN and DSTV in response to xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. This isn't the first time such a proposal has been made; in 2017, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) gave South African companies a 48-hour ultimatum to leave Nigeria, citing the need for reciprocity and protection of Nigerian interests .
The Nigerian Senate also weighed the option of expelling South African companies, including MTN, DSTV, and Shoprite, over the attacks. The proposal was met with mixed reactions, with some arguing it would lead to job losses and others supporting it as a necessary measure.
