WORLD BANK COMMENDS SPESSE ON CERTIFICATION EXAMS
The World Bank has commended the SPESSE Environmental Node for launching professional certification examinations, describing it as a key shift from capacity building to standards-based certification.
The commendation followed the World Bank’s Implementation Support Mission held between November and December 2025, during which the team visited the Environmental Assessment Department of the Federal Ministry of Environment.
Director of the Department, Mrs R. A. Odetoro, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to a credible and transparent certification system.
World Bank Task Team Leader, Mr Ishtiak Siddiqe, stressed that the value of SPESSE certifications lies in strong governance and verification, not the number of certificates issued.
SPESSE Project Coordinator, Mr Hussain Sh*ttu, said the certification process is fully digital, ensuring transparency, traceability, and accountability.
The World Bank also noted plans to deploy SPESSE-certified professionals across Ministries and Agencies handling World Bank-funded projects to improve compliance and project delivery.
