*TRIBUNAL VICTORY: OLISA CONGRATULATES GOV SHERIFF AND DEPUTY ONYEME ON TRIBUNAL VICTORY*
Chief Dr Charles Olisa, Commissioner representing Ndokwa Nation ethnicity on the board of DESOPADEC, has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Deputy on their well deserved victory at the Governorship Election Petition Court.
Olisa in a statement signed by his Media Directorate, said the victory is a true reflection of the will of Deltans who defied all odds and challenges and voted for the PDP, Gov Sheriff Oborevwori and Deputy Sir Monday Onyeme as their choice during the February 25th, 2023 election.
Olisa said Deltan electorate had spoken through the ballots and the court has also affirmed the peoples’ decision by judicial pronouncements, which upheld the victory of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori during the 2023 Governorship poll.
According to Olisa thousands of Deltans who truly believe in democratic governance as the best option of government were not in doubt as regards the mandate freely given to Governor Sheriff to pilot the affairs of Delta for four years based on his track records as a true democrat as well as his uncommon achievements as two-term Speaker.
“outside the tribunal victory being an affirmation of the Governorship poll, the victory at the tribunal is the beauty of democracy and the sanctity of the rule of law. Deltans went to the poll in February, defied all the odds and challenges at the time, and when all was done thousands of people voted to elect Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and Deputy Sir Monday Onyeme, and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as the Governor and Deputy governor of Delta State.
“challenging the victory in court is a further test on our judiciary and part of democracy. We believed that the failed APC/LP opposition parties that lost the election will display the good spirit of sportsmanship by congratulating the winner, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and PDP, but they chose to contest the election results, which is within their rights anyway.
The election and the results haven been upheld by the Tribunal, we hope they will do the right thing and choose the part of honor by congratulating the winner.
“On behalf of the good Ndokwa East People, I congratulate the Governor of Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Deputy Sir Monday Onyeme on their well-deserved victory at the Governorship Election Tribunal Court, and for piloting the affair of Delta successfully in the last 100 days as governor and deputy governor.
“I also congratulate the leadership and members of our great party, the People's Democratic Party, and all Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora on this very landmark judicial victory.”
Olisa called on all Deltans across the state to continue to pray for Governor Sheriff's success and for all other political parties to team up with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to deliver the real dividends of democracy to Deltans through the M.O.R.E agenda, saying “no doubt the judicial verdict is a victory for Deltans, democracy and the rule of law and People's Democratic Party of Nigeria.
