I PLANNED FOR ONE BUT GOD GAVE ME TWO
Today was truly a beautiful and fulfilling day—one of those days that leaves your heart overflowing with gratitude to God. I am deeply thankful for how everything I planned turned out. Though the day went smoothly, it certainly was not without effort and movement from one assignment to another.
The day began with a visit to a church member whom I had not seen in worship for quite some time. He was genuinely happy and touched that I came to see him, and honestly, I was equally blessed by the visit. One thing I have always cherished about ministry is the privilege of connecting personally with members. Visiting them gives me a deep sense of fulfillment, even though it can sometimes be physically demanding.
From there, I proceeded to one of my district churches — Obehie Township Church, the third church in my district — where the Adventurers were having a fun-filled event following yesterday’s World Adventurers Day celebration. On my way, I stopped briefly at a member’s cybercafé to drop off an envelope design I had created for one of our churches ahead of their AWM Federation programme scheduled for the 31st of this month.
Upon arriving at Obehie Township Church, I spent quality time with the Adventurers before leaving for another important engagement.
The next assignment was the monthly AMO/AWM District Meeting, held at Imo River Church, the second church in my district. The meeting began with a joint devotional session for both the men and women, during which I spoke on the topic: “When God Needs a Man/Woman.” Following the devotional and a special prayer session, the men moved to another section of the church for their deliberations while the women continued in the main hall.
Because of the nature of the discussions, I constantly moved between both meetings, attending to matters that required my attention on both sides. It was quite demanding, but by God’s grace, both meetings ended successfully.
Afterwards, we proceeded for a baptismal service scheduled for a new convert — and this is where the remarkable part of the day truly began.
The brother we baptized today is actually an assistant pastor in a Sunday-worshipping denomination. Interestingly, none of us knew him previously. He simply decided to worship with us at Obehie Township Church on Sabbath, May 9th, the very Sabbath I happened to be preaching there.
He was deeply touched by the message. After the service, I later learned that he had wanted to speak with me, but because I was occupied at the time, one of my elders spent considerable time studying the Bible with him.
That evening, I spoke with him over the phone and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday at the district headquarters, but heavy rainfall prevented the meeting from holding. I then invited him for another Bible study session on Friday, May 15th. After the study and our discussion, he made the decision to surrender fully to Christ through baptism.
Recognizing the urgency, I quickly contacted my friend, Pastor Edward Festus, an ordained minister, who graciously agreed to officiate the baptismal service.
Fast forward to today — we all went to the riverside for the baptism. After baptizing the brother, Pastor Festus, following a common practice among Adventist pastors, made an open appeal to people around the riverside — those who had come to swim, wash, or simply relax by the stream. He shared a brief but powerful message.
To be honest, I expected the appeal to end the way such appeals often do — without a visible response. I was already anticipating that the pastor would conclude so we could head back.
But then, something extraordinary happened.
A young lady who had come to the stream with her boyfriend was moved by the message. Right there at the riverside, she stepped forward and expressed her desire to give her life to Christ. And to the glory of God, she too was baptized!
Hallelujah! 🙌
Her name is Precious, and we have already taken her contact and begun following her up spiritually.
Indeed, today I planned for one, but God gave me two.
As I reflect on the day, my heart is filled with gratitude — not only because I was able to accomplish everything I had planned, but because God once again reminded me that His plans are always greater than ours.
To God alone be all the glory. Amen.

Testimony Report – Aba West Conference
My name is Pastor Nathaniel Caleb, from Aba West Conference in the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference.
Two days ago, during the satellite evangelism program, Pastor Douglas delivered a sermon on the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. At our downlink centre located at Obuzor SDA Church, we experienced some network challenges. However, despite the interruptions, we were still able to receive the core message of the sermon.
As the pastor proceeded to make the altar call, an unexpected incident occurred. I suddenly noticed members rushing out of the church, which left me startled and concerned. As I sought to understand the situation, I was informed that one of our sisters, who had attended the program that evening, had stepped outside for fresh air after feeling unwell. Unfortunately, her condition quickly worsened, and she began gasping for breath. At that moment, it appeared she might not survive.
Immediately, I instructed that she be brought back into the church. We laid her before the altar, and the congregation began to sing songs of restoration and faith. Then, with deep conviction, I lifted my voice in prayer, calling upon the same Jesus whose Second Coming had just been proclaimed. I pleaded for His immediate intervention and restoration.
After about ten minutes of earnest prayer, the Lord answered. The sister was restored—completely healed and revived. Since that day, she has continued to attend the program in good health.
I delayed sharing this testimony until now to ensure the healing was complete and lasting. Indeed, God has granted her perfect healing.
To God be all the glory. Hallelujah! 🙌
