Title: RESTORE MY PEACE AND JOY
Bible Text: Psalm 51:12
"Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."
There are seasons when life drains us and peace feels far away. Anxiety crowds the heart, and joy seems like a memory. But God never intended for His children to live broken. He is the Restorer of both peace and joy, and He invites us to come to Him when ours runs dry.
*John 14:27* says, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." The peace Jesus gives is not fragile or circumstantial. It’s a deep, abiding calm that holds even when the storm rages. And with peace, He restores joy. *Psalm 51:12* is David’s cry after a season of loss: "Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."
Ellen White reminds us where this restoration begins: "When the soul surrenders itself to Christ, a new power takes possession of the new heart... There is a death to self and sin, and a new life in Christ" (_The Desire of Ages_, p. 173). Peace and joy are not things we manufacture. They are fruit of Christ living in us. As we surrender our fears, failures, and fatigue to Him, He exchanges them for His presence.
Yet restoration is often a daily process. Ellen White also writes, "We must gather about us the divine rays of light from Christ, and reflect them to others" (_Testimonies for the Church_, Vol. 5, p. 169). When we fix our minds on His promises, worship in spite of feelings, and choose gratitude, the rays of His peace and joy break through again. *Nehemiah 8:10* declares, "The joy of the Lord is your strength." Not our own joy — His.
So today, if your peace is shattered and your joy is low, ask Him to restore. He does not condemn you for losing it. He simply says, "Come." Lay down the weight. Receive His peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let Him put a new song in your mouth (Psalm 40:3). He is faithful to restore what life has stolen.
Prayer focus: _Lord, restore unto me the peace and joy of Your salvation. Where I am anxious, calm me. Where I am empty, fill me. Let Your presence be my strength today. Amen._

Title: Restore Me Again
Text: Psalms 51:11–12
“Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
David’s prayer in this passage is one of the most heartfelt cries of repentance in all Scripture. After his fall, he did not ask first for blessings, protection, or success he asked for God’s presence and the restoration of joy. This reveals a powerful truth: when we lose our connection with God, everything else loses meaning.
“Cast me not away from thy presence…”
David understood that the worst consequence of sin is not punishment, but separation from God. Just as Adam hid after sin (Genesis 3:8), sin still drives a wedge between humanity and divine fellowship. Yet God’s desire is not to cast us away, but to draw us back when we come in repentance (Isaiah 1:18).
“Take not thy Holy Spirit from me…”
The presence of the Holy Spirit is the believer’s lifeline. Without Him, we cannot overcome sin or live righteously. Jesus affirmed this truth: “Without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). David had seen what happened when God’s Spirit departed from Saul, and he feared that same fate. This reminds us to daily seek the Spirit’s guidance and power.
“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation…”
Sin steals joy. It replaces peace with guilt and assurance with fear. But God is a restorer. He not only forgives He renews. The joy of salvation is not based on circumstances but on a renewed relationship with Christ. As declared in Romans 5:1, “being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
“And uphold me with thy free spirit.”
David recognizes his weakness and dependence on God’s sustaining grace. We do not stand by our strength but by God’s power. As Philippians 2:13 reminds us, it is God who works in us “both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”
Reflection:
Have you lost your spiritual joy? Do you feel distant from God? Like David, you can pray for restoration. God does not reject a broken and contrite heart (Psalms 51:17). He restores, renews, and rejoices over every returning soul.
Prayer:
Lord, do not let me drift from Your presence. Renew Your Spirit within me, restore my joy, and uphold me by Your grace. Help me to walk closely with You every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Title: SUSTAINED BY GRACE
Bible Verse: My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. - 2 Corinthians 12:9.
As we navigate life's challenges, it's easy to feel like we're walking on shaky ground. But God's Word reminds us that we are sustained by His grace, not by our own strength or works (2 Corinthians 12:9). When we feel weak, He is strong. When we stumble, He lifts us up (Psalm 145:14).
Ellen White writes, "We are to be sustained by the bread of life, that we may reveal Christ to the world" (The Desire of Ages, p. 389). Just as our physical bodies need food to survive, our spiritual lives need the sustenance of God's grace. Without it, we wither like a plant without water (John 15:5).
But God's grace is not just a one-time gift; it's a constant, abiding presence in our lives (Romans 5:2). He says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). What a comfort! We are sustained by His presence, His Word, and His love.
As we yield to God's sustaining grace, we'll find ourselves transformed, renewed, and empowered to live a life that honors Him. We'll face challenges, but we won't be overcome, for God's grace is always there, holding us up (Romans 8:31). Let's fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and trust that His grace will carry us through every trial and triumph.
Let's Pray: Father l seek for your grace for the race, may your grace speak for me where l cannot, stand for me where l cannot, may your grace be my strength when l lose strength. Keep sustaining me daily by your grace in Jesus name. Amen.
