We do! It's like they're saying, "Trust us, we've got the science to back it up!" 🌟
Now, you see, every ingredient might have its own studies backing up its benefits. Like, Ascorbic Acid brightens your skin, or Hyaluronic Acid hydrates dryness. But here's the kicker: when you mix all these fancy ingredients together in one product, who knows how effective the product really is?
A brand that sells a Niacinamide serum advertises to you that Niacinamide minimizes pore size according to research. This seems general and less credible, well, it might not be the same CONCENTRATION of the Niacinamide in research vs what they use in their product. It might not be the same GRADE/PURITY of the Niacinamide in research vs what they use in their product. It is just not their PRODUCT that the research is conducted for
👏 That's where some brands come in, spending all that dough to test their products on real human participants, following proper methodology
It’s not cheap to do the clinical test either. In Malaysia, product efficacy research comprising of reimbursement to participants, researchers’ allowance for consultation and data analysis, rental of clinical centre, lab consumables, etc. sum up to at least ~RM 20,000.00+ per product (as of 2024)

👩‍⚕ More often than not, knowing what NOT 🙅‍♀️ to put on your skin, is equally important as understanding what to put on your skin.

We hope that after reading this post, you will be more careful when saying you have sensitive skin 🔬 You will be more specific, as in not just what ingredient, but also at what percentage, in which type of product, under what other personal or environmental condition, would likely irritate your skin.

Natural does not necessarily mean better, and synthetic does not necessarily mean harmful.

Nature identical ingredients (NI) are designed to mimic the sensory and functional properties of the natural compound while also ensuring consistent quality, benefits, and availability.

For example, a nature-identical flavoring agent can be used in place of a natural flavor, which may be more expensive or difficult to obtain, while still providing the same taste and aroma 🍊.

Nature identical ingredients may be synthesized in a laboratory, but they are still identical to the natural compound found in nature, and they undergo rigorous testing and safety evaluations before being used in products.

It all comes down to your skin's preference, whether natural ingredients work better for you, or if NI is a better go-to. After all, your skin is as unique as you are!

We’ve been talking a lot about skincare actives in our previous posts - Niacinamide, Retinoids, Tranexamic Acid, etc.. Good articles alike are actually plenty on the internet (be sure you read from reputable sources though). But the key active in cleansing oil is less discussed 🤷‍♀️

There is more than one active (emulsifier) in cleansing oils these days. We post about PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate because we see an increasing trend that it is being used in more and more expensive products by big beauty brands.

👩‍⚕ Why should you catch PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate in the ingredient list? Because it helps you save money. Our idea is that all cleansing oils with PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate are *very nearly* created equal - they cleanse thoroughly; they get rinsed off the skin comfortably - the same.

👨‍⚕ You may ask, what if one cleansing oil with PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate contains hot actives like Hyaluronic Acid or some exotic plant oils, shouldn’t it bring more results and be sold more expensively than the others that don’t contain the extra ingredients?

Pe*******on of good ingredients into the skin takes hours. You rinse off the cleansing oil in minutes. Even if it contains enough goodies, it will not be worthee paying for them in a cleansing oil.
