Let's talk durian export.

By now, almost daily, the news is blasting about durian export to China ever since the General Administra­tion of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) allowed Malaysia to export frozen whole fruit durian to China.

Many players have also taken the opportunity to jump into the bandwagon. Offering investment schemes, joint ventures, land purchase deals and so on - all in the name of durian export to China.

Previously, Malaysia was restricted to exporting frozen durian pulp and puree to China, but this new agreement will further open the Chinese market to Malaysian exporters.

The announcement of the protocol by the General Administration of Customs of China came with a number of conditions. Notably, durian must be stored and transported at temperatures of -18°C or below.
