Across the Asia-Pacific, Indigenous communities are on the frontlines of climate change yet they are also powerful knowledge holders shaping resilience and environmental stewardship. Within these communities, women play vital roles as leaders, organisers, and keepers of knowledge.

However, their contributions are still often overlooked in mainstream climate conversations, policies, and data systems.

This session creates a space to centre these lived experiences highlighting Indigenous women-led efforts, and exploring how community knowledge can inform stronger climate justice, advocacy, and engagement.

Join us as we reflect on how grassroots realities can be amplified into wider movements for change.

From the Baram inception workshop in 2022 to the completion of the program this year, we applaud the convictions behind the need to support community-led projects through the Small Grant Program (SGP) funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and executed by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) - UNDP Malaysia

We are constantly blown away by the amazing work carried out by the communities that came together under the Baram Landscape:
Tubo Tuan Temedan Ulang Long Semiyang
Koppes Baram Berhad
Nawan Nature Discovery Centre Lg Moh
Lg Anap
Lg Tungan
Lepo’ Aga
Lg Banga

The fellow CSOs at PELIHARA and our intermediary WormingUp

Plus the good friends we got to know from and our forever technical partner PACOS Trust who have never held back in sharing their resources and capacity.

Thank you for the hardwork each of you put in into this program

Special thanks to the Deputy Minister YB Tuan Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh of Kementerian Sumber Asli dan Kelestarian Alam (NRES) for the genuinely positive interactions with our fellow grantees and the CSOs that represent them.

We want to acknowledge that more still needs to be done in strengthening and scaling the good practices of our projects with other strategic governmental bodies but for today we are deeply grateful for those who walked with us, listened to us and respected our way of life and belief systems as the World’s Best Guardian of the Rainforest throughout this journey.

Thank you for the partnership and we look forward to the powerful work we can do together.
