Hand feeding is THE BEST WAY to start to build a good positive relationship with any dog in your life. Brock has been hand fed from a puppy and the benefits are still shining through even now he is 3!
It builds a starter picture in the dogs mind that good things happen when they engage with you ….
That if they try their best to understand your requests there is fantastic reward…..
It allows the owner to work the dogs brain (10mins brain work is said to equal 1 hr physical work!)……
From a new puppy arriving in your home it gives you oodles of opportunity to start working on how they physically interact with you. Teaching them from day one to be calm around food and being fed from the hand. It teaches them not to bite your hand (painful process to start with but sooooo worthwhile!). It helps you start to build impulse control along with a lot of other key basic behaviours you really want to have as they grow older.
I don’t know about everyone else but I sure as heck much prefer a calm relaxed doggo in the house and this is always the perfect way to get that embedded! Happy Hand Feeding Folks (just remember to have a rag nearby to wipe the slobbers onto 😁)
