Just finished a weathered build on the P-Bandai MG Powered GM. I initially wanted to paint it in the GM Type C colours (as that kit is hard to find now in Malaysia, and was thinking on swapping it every now and then between being the Powered GM and the Type C), but decided to just fully commit to making it the Powered in the end.

For the colours, I maintained the general colours of the unit, but used a more toned down orange to get a slightly more miltaristic feel. I also swapped out the orange on the knees for white, as I prefer the typical colour EFSF layout compared to the Powered GM's one. Lastly, I painted the inner frame of the visor in metallic green to still get that usual GM green visor, as I didn't have any Clear Green on hand.

For decals, majority of them were from a third-party MG Nu Gundam Ver. Ka sheet that I bought for another project that I didn't end up using, alongside some from the included sheet and a few other random sheets.

For the weathering, I used the "weathering crayons" from Mr. Hobby (generally the sand/dirt ones) for the feet and the bottom of the shield, as this unit was generally known to be used on the ground. I also applied some water on the crayon area to give it a more faded effect. Also, I used Gunmental and Steel on the edges of the unit to make some chippping effect, which was applied via toothpick. Everything was then sealed using a mix of Mr. Hobby Flat Clear applied via airbrush, and Vallejo Mecha Matte Varnish for any areas that I missed.

Overall, I am very happy with the end result of the build, and hope I can actually find the actual Type C for a reasonable price int he future.

Finished a straight build of the MG Jegan Type D "First Deployment Colors" on Sunday. Great build experience, and the finished look with all the decals is great (the big NA symbol was a pain to apply though). Only painted parts on this build were the inside of the visor, and the tip of the rifle, but other than those, only "paints" applied were the matte topcoat and the panel lining.

Pacific Rim "Gypsy Danger" by Empire Sky Studio

Pacific Rim is one of my favourite movies of all time, and the main mech, Gypsy Danger, is up there as one of my favourite designs ever for a mech, so I was very happy to see that there's now an affordable and decent quality figure/model kit of it being sold online.

The model comes with all the necessary accessories it needs to just about do everything it can from the movie. The articulation is pretty decent, though I wish there was an extra joint in the forearm to help it pose better. The LED gimmick is pretty cool though, and is activated by placing a magnet in front of the chest exhaust area, and it has two modes for it too (On for ~1 minute, or "breathing" mode). It's not a big model at only 14cm, but it packs a lot for the size.
