Helichrysum is a wonderful essential oil for the skin, especially wounds. However, like all essential oils, it has multiple beneficial properties. A recent laboratory study concluded that helichrysum essential oil "may have a role in the treatment of respiratory tract infections" because it exhibited stronger antibacterial activity against respiratory pathogens—P. aeruginosa, S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, H. parainfluenzae—than the reference antibiotics (gentamicin, imipenem, amikacin).
