📍 Site Visit to Keningau, Sabah
🗓️ 19–20 May 2026

As part of our ongoing monitoring and learning process, the CHANGE team recently visited Keningau, Sabah to observe two projects supported through the CHANGE Microgrant Programme 2025/26.

These site visits are an important opportunity for us to better understand the realities on the ground, learn from our project partners, and see firsthand how small grants can contribute to meaningful change in local communities.

🌱 Project #1: Slice of Care
Project Partner: Keningau Vocational College
Project Lead: Teacher Syafiqah Eugene

This project provides baking skills training for women working in cleaning and support roles, as well as women from the surrounding community. Through practical training led by teachers and supported by vocational college students, participants gain skills that can help them generate additional income and strengthen their economic resilience.

We were delighted to meet the participants, observe the training sessions, and see the cakes and products they had learned to create. It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm and determination of both the trainers and participants.

🎲 Project #2: Good Games
Project Partners: EUREKA Hub & Keningau Vocational College
Project Lead: Teacher Khalifa Affnan

This creative project empowers students to design educational board games for younger learners and the wider community. During our visit, students introduced two game prototypes they had developed: one focusing on anti-bullying awareness and another on financial literacy.

We had the opportunity to play the games together and were impressed by how engaging, educational, and thoughtfully designed they were. What stood out most was the students’ initiative in creating activities that encourage face-to-face interaction, collaboration, and learning beyond screens.

Beyond the projects themselves, this visit reminded us of the passion, creativity, and commitment of educators, students, and community members working together to create positive change.

A heartfelt thank you to Keningau Vocational College, EUREKA Hub, Teacher Syafiqah Eugene, Teacher Khalifa Affnan, and everyone involved for warmly welcoming us and sharing your inspiring work.
