UTAR Division of Programme Promotion (DPP) has successfully arranged an insightful and meaningful talk titled “你的情绪,不只是感觉” at SMJK Perempuan Perak, Ipoh on 20 May 2026, by inviting Ms. Kow Li Fen, academic staff from the Centre for Foundation Studies Kampar Campus as speaker. The session aimed to raise students’ awareness and understanding of emotions, anxiety, and mental well-being from a psychological perspective.

During the talk, Ms. Kow introduced students to the basics of psychology, explaining how emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and personal development are closely connected. She also shared the Biopsychosocial Model, helping students understand that anxiety and emotions are often influenced by multiple factors instead of a single cause. Through relatable examples and interactive explanations, students learned about different emotions, emotional reactions, and how individuals may interpret situations differently.

Ms. Kow further discussed anxiety management techniques such as mindfulness, grounding exercises, delaying impulsive reactions, and distinguishing facts from thoughts. Students were also exposed to the DISC personality model to better understand their own emotional tendencies and responses to stress. In addition, practical guidance was provided on how to support friends who may be struggling emotionally through active listening, validation, and support.

The programme received very positive responses from the students, who actively participated during the interactive session. The school also conveyed its appreciation for the meaningful and beneficial sharing, which provided valuable guidance and advice in promoting positive mental health and emotional well-being among students.
