It seems obvious... but the ventral neck is an overlooked area of infection in allergic dogs. Dogs with "droopy" skin (like Basset Hounds and Bloodhounds) especially like to form bacterial and yeast dermatitis in this area due to the friction of the skin rubbing together. However, it should be a part of your regular dermatologic examination of allergic pets.

Topical therapy (bathing, mousse or wipes) can be amazing for active infections AND maintenance in dogs predisposed to neck fold dermatitis. But you can't find the dermatitis if you don't look! So, life up a neck fold today!
