Phrasal verbs are handy. They allow for quicker, less formal communication in more natural English.
Verb + preposition/adverb= meaning different from original verb. For example:-

Get + along = get along (have a good relationship
I hope my cat will get along with my brother's dog while visiting them next week.

Drop + by = drop by (pay a brief visit, usually without prior invitation).
I heard Sara has been unwell for 2 weeks. I better drop by to check on her later today.

Proverbs and idioms can be used to enhance communication, giving more 'colour' when using English. What is the difference between a proverb and an idiom?

A proverb is a full sentence that gives life lessons or advice.
e.g. 'Rome was not built in a day'- important or significant projects require time & patience to complete successfully.

An idiom is a phrase with figurative meaning (not literal).
e.g. 'hold your horses'- slow down, do not rush into an action.
