When someone has an early or "little" cataract, the natural lens inside the eye begins to clump proteins and gradually turns a yellowish-brown. This causes two major visual complaints: loss of contrast sensitivity (everything looks washed out or faded) and increased glare, especially when driving at night or looking at digital screens. The most effective tinting colors to improve vision at this stage are amber or brown.
