The Pokok - all day bar

Weather in Penang is so hot and humid this few days. Decided to get a few friends to try out this new bar in Penang. We went there early and ordered a bucket of Becks just to have a feel of this new gem in Georgetown before we commit for more drinks. This place used to be an open air private car park and is now converted to an open air bar. Their main structure is made up of 20 & 40 footers shipping containers with some extendable awnings that form the sheltered area where the bar counter is and a roof top seating area above the containers. Currently there are no happy hours discount which I hope in future they'll add this common practice. Drinks are reasonably price and atmosphere is good. The crowd starts to flow in from 8pm and by 9pm it's almost full house. A 2 piece band play some nice acoustic songs starts at around 9pm during the interval of the band, they play some club music. We ordered a bottle of whiskey that comes with 5 cans of mixer of your choice, of cause we negotiate for more and the manager gracefully obliged us. Overall I should say this bar is enjoyable. I had taken some photos of their menu and the place when it was still not crowded.

About 11 minutes walk from Red Door Penang. I would recommend to have dinner at Chulia Street Hawkers before heading to Pokok just a few buildings opposite.
