Georgetown, 11 June 2026 - We were pleased to welcome representatives from Google and Jana Technologies for a productive discussion on the future of AI adoption in public sectors.

The delegation included Mr. Raja Azmi Adam, Public Sector Strategic Pursuit Director, ASEAN; Ms. Ruby Lye, Customer Engineer - Data & AI, Malaysia, Google; Mr. Mohd Nasir bin Said, and Mr. Md Jais bin Khalid, Jana Technologies Sdn. Bhd.

During the session, Google shared insights into the capabilities of Gemini Enterprise AI and how its features can empower AI adoption across Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and local government agencies, enabling greater productivity, innovation, and operational efficiency.

The discussion also highlighted Google's collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia in advancing AI adoption across higher education institutions, equipping students and educators with AI-powered tools and capabilities for the future workforce.

In addition, Google provided updates on its investment in developing a major AI Data Center and Hub in the Klang Valley, which is expected to become 2nd largest in the world after the USA.

We look forward to continued collaboration in driving digital transformation, AI readiness, and innovation across Penang and beyond.

It's been a busy and exciting two weeks at Digital Penang! 🚀 Here's a quick recap of what we've been up to ✨

1. On 26 May, Director of SME & Community Development, Digital Penang, Mr Khooi Chu Boon, met with the Senior Manager of Corporate Academy at ViTrox Academy to discuss opportunities for collaboration in accelerating AI adoption among SMEs. The engagement highlighted the importance of leveraging local expertise and industry knowledge to support meaningful digital transformation within the SME ecosystem 🤖

2. On 29 May, Digital Penang welcomed a visitation from The Bosses Network Young Chapter (BNYC), Singapore, during their Overseas Learning Trip to Penang. The session provided an opportunity to share Digital Penang’s initiatives, ecosystem-building efforts, and our role in driving digital transformation, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the state 🌏

3. On 3 June, Digital Penang proudly launched the SME Digital Matching Platform, a free coordinator-led initiative designed to connect SMEs with suitable digital solution providers based on their business needs, industry requirements, and budget. The platform aims to simplify digital adoption and help businesses take the next step in their transformation journey 💻

4. On 3 June, Digital Penang CEO Ts. Ng Kwang Ming, Director of SME & Community Development, Mr Khooi Chu Boon, and Alibaba Business Development Manager Lawrence Ha held an insightful discussion on emerging economic and technology trends. Topics explored included the Orange Economy, the rise of One-Person Companies, and the growing impact of Agentic AI in shaping the future of business, creativity, and innovation 🎨🤖

5. On 4 June, Digital Penang collaborated with PENTECH Solution, Microsoft, and Ingram Micro to host the Digital Transformation: The Future of Governance sharing session. The session brought together public sector leaders to explore how solutions such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure, and AI-powered tools can enhance productivity, operational efficiency, and public service delivery 🏛️

6. On 4 June, an AI Workflow for Small Business sharing session was held in Digital Penang, featuring founders from Spots and Re: Crave. Participants gained practical insights into how AI tools and workflows are being implemented in real business operations to improve productivity and support business growth 📈

7. On 5 June, Digital Penang was honoured to host the First DEMP Stakeholders' Workshop 2026 and the soft launch of the DEMP Online Dashboard. The event brought together government agencies and ecosystem stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, track progress, and accelerate the implementation of the Digital Economy Master Plan (DEMP) 2025–2030 📊

8. On 5 June, Digital Penang met with Ashisuto at Digital Penang to discuss preparations for the upcoming AI Hackathon. The meeting focused on programme planning, and ensuring participants will have the necessary support and resources to develop innovative AI solutions for real-world challenges 🤖

9. On 6 June, Digital Penang attended the inaugural JCI Business Accelerator programme, organised with sponsorship support to equip entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners with practical business knowledge, networking opportunities, and mentorship to support their business growth journey 🚀
